Abstract
Methanol extract of peanut shells showed antioxidative and antimicrobial activities. The methanol extract was successively purified through solvent fractionation, silica gel adsorption column chromatography, Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography, and octadecylsilane column chromatography. The purified active substances were isolated through high performance liquid chromatography, and were identified as 4-hydroxycinnamic acid, 3-methoxy-4-hydroxycinnamic acid, and 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid by LC-MS and GC-MS.
